Asimov cobot will be presented for the first time at Innorobo fair that will take place from May 24 to 26 at the Docks de Paris, booth B06-C107, Pullman Dock. The main theme of the fair is cobots and how to make machines and humans coexist and work together.
For some people, Asimov is a famous science-fiction writer, for others it is about BA Systèmes’ new collaborative robot. Asimov is the result of the collaboration of IRT Jules Verne (“Institut de Recherche Technologique” for Technology Research Institut) that have been working on a 3D collection system, IRCCYN (“Institut de Recherche en Communications et Cybernétique de Nantes” for “Research Institute in Communications and Cybernetics of Nantes”) who has imagined algorithms for advanced manipulation, Airbus that has specified the robot characteristics and offered an innovative application case and put at disposal his offline programming software for mobile robot and his laboratory, Airbus Group Innovation, that has integrated the robot and provided the piloting software including the guidance without infrastructure, also called “SLAM” and BA Systèmes which has developed for the mobile base.
Asimov has been developed to work together with operators during the assembly operations of the Airbus-plane A380. Thanks to the autonomous mobile platform, it can move inside the plane towards the right place to print with high precision on the structure, with its polyarticulated arm the form and the reference of the piece that has to be assembled thereafter by highly qualified operators.
