What is your background?
Since high school, I have always been interested in science. After a scientific high school diploma, I joined an engineering school with an integrated preparatory for 5 years. I always wanted to work in industry, I like its importance and its concreteness. Naturally, after school, I worked a dozen years for an industrial gas supplier.
What does your job involve?
I have joined BA Systèmes as project manager. I like to say that it looks like a job of an orchestra conductor in a symphony. The project manager is the guarantor of all actions especially of the planning on both BA Systèmes’ side and the customers’ one. I am the sole contact of the customer, the mediator between wishes, ideas and their feasibility. This service is not always offered by our competitors and is highly appreciated.
My mission consists in setting up the internal resources of BA Systèmes to successfully deliver in due time an AGV system that matches the needs and requirements of our customers and thus gives them entire satisfaction.
What are the most rewarding aspects of your job?
I like to work with teams of different profiles and skills. I try to identify the best in each person I work with and leverage their skills. Thus, when a project is completed, in operation and the customer satisfied, I have the feeling of having completed a real mission. A pleasant side of this job is to go on-site visit many factories, to see and understand how all this works in real life. You can see things from a broader point of view and it develops my culture of the industry field which, I think, is essential to be able to better anticipate the needs of our customers.
What personality asset needs to have the project manager?
Relationship aspect is the most important to me. It is essential to establish a relationship of trust with our customers, anticipate their needs or reassure them if needed.
Since that portrait, Bastien has become responsible for the port activity development.
